About Attorney Brian A. Sim
Brian A. Sim, Esq. understands and embraces the interplay of business and law, skillfully navigating complex issues and providing his clients with both proven strategies and creative solutions. After working for multiple firms and corporations, he founded SIM LAW OFFICES in 2017 to focus his practice on personal injury and business law.
He advises clients on a wide range of transactional and real estate matters, including acquisitions, construction, development, financing, leasing, and property management. Specifically, he has assisted clients with the ground-up development and operating structure of medical centers, mixed-use projects, multifamily residential communities, office buildings, and shopping centers. This includes representing property owners before government agencies in obtaining developmental approvals for residential, commercial, and industrial projects and advising developers on federal, state, and local regulations to assist with permitting, compliance, and remediation.
As outside corporate counsel for various companies, he assists with commercial leases, corporate compliance, entity formations, franchise registrations and renewals, human resources issues, mergers and acquisitions, and operational and strategic management. He also drafts contracts, corporate bylaws, employee handbooks, employment agreements, operating manuals, and purchase and sale agreements. Finally, he advises employers on a broad range of employment issues, including wage and hour compliance, disability accommodation, employee discipline and terminations, harassment and discrimination claims, and government investigations.
Brian's practice is also focused on healthcare providers in transactions requiring strategic business planning. His clients include owners and operators of concierge medical offices, medical spas, private practices, surgery centers, and urgent care clinics, as well as management services organizations. He has facilitated the sale of medical practices (including office buildings and equipment) and helped form new medical practices for independent healthcare practitioners. He also works closely with physicians to formulate exit strategies as they plan for retirement or the sale of their medical practices.
He initially accepted personal injury cases to be a resourceful and responsive advocate for family members and friends in need of direct representation. Based on his professional relationships with physician groups, he was able to refer his clients to highly skilled medical professionals and secure the best care for them. He found his business background and transactional skills to be perfectly suited for challenging insurance companies and securing the compensation he felt was owed to his clients. Ultimately captivated by an appreciation for his services, he has progressively built a thriving personal injury practice focused on cultivating relationships with his clients and communicating effectively with doctors for their care and wellbeing.
Brian obtained dual bachelor's degrees in English and history from UCLA, then graduated from the UCLA School of Law with a specialization in Critical Race Studies, a unique program focused on the intersection of race and the law, critical race theory, civil rights, public policy, and social justice. He is licensed to practice law in California and Hawaii.
